Welcome to Your Smart Classroom!
The Smart protocol for classroom technology is designed to make using computer, video, CD, and DVD playing as easy as possible. Basic instructions
This room has dual projectors which both show the same image. The MediaLink controller on the front of the podium should be used to turn the projectors on and off, select input sources, and set volume. Please DO NOT use the projector remote control for these functions. You can also blank the image with the "pic mute" button and the sound with the "audio mute" button. If the image from the computer is cut off on the screen, press the "auto image" button and the projectors should adjust it. Please note that in the event buttons are pressed with the projector off, the controller may "get out of sync" with the actual conditions. In most cases it is only necessary to press the appropriate button again on the MediaLink (even if it is already illuminated) to restore function.

To turn the projectors On or OFF
Use the Display ON and OFF buttons on the MediaLink. The projector takes 30 seconds to warm up (The button will flash while the projector is warming up or cooling down. Please do not press other buttons during this time).

To view the built-in Mac
With the projector on, press the PC button on the MediaLink. Note that the volume is controlled both by the Mac volume setting and the volume on the MediaLink. The computer is a Mac "mini" located below the media controller on the front of the podium. If not already on, press the black power button located to the right of the computer to turn it on. You may also need to press the power button located on the front of the monitor to turn that on, especially if the computer has been "sleeping". The slot to insert a DVD or CD is located to the left side of the computer. Use the eject button on the keyboard to eject your disc.
 This computer can be started in Mac OS in addition to Windows. To do so, hold down the "option" key when re-starting the computer and click on the appropriate icon (It may take a few moments to appear to respond).

To view a laptop
Connect the VGA cable located on top of the podium to the laptop VGA jack. If using sound, connect the "mini" sound plug provided to the laptop headphone jack. With the projectors ON, press the LAPTOP button on the MediaLink.You may need to press a function key on your laptop to enable the external monitor function (may be marked "LCD/CRT" or with a monitor icon).

To Play & View a DVD or CD:
With the projectors on, press the "DVD" button on the MediaLink and insert your DVD into the Pioneer player. You may control function with the front panel buttons on the Pioneer player or the Pioneer remote. This player will play DVDs from all regions of the world.

To View the Document Camera (Visual Presenter):
With the projector on, press the "Doc Cam" button on the MediaLink. You can preview the image on the computer by opening he "SDP-860 viewer" application. The camera head can also be pivoted up and used as a camera for applications such as Skype. However you would need to sign out a USB microphone from the Media Center as there is no installed microphone.

 Please, turn off all of the equipment before you leave the room.
