Welcome to Your Smart Classroom!
The Smart protocol for classroom technology is designed to make using computer, video, CD, and DVD playing as easy as possible. Basic instructions
The MediaLink controller mount in the rack above the VCR/DVD should be used to turn the projector on and off, select input sources, and set volume. Please DO NOT use the projector remote control for these functions. You can also blank the image with the "pic mute" button.  Please note that in the event buttons are pressed with the projector off or the DVD/VCR mode is changed not using the MediaLink, the controller may "get out of sync" with the actual conditions. In most cases it is only necessary to press the appropriate button again on the MediaLink (even if it is already illuminated) to restore function.

To turn the projector On or OFF
Use the Display ON and OFF buttons on the MediaLink. The projector takes 30 seconds to warm up (The button will flash while the projector is warming up or cooling down. Please do not press other buttons during this time).

To view the Mac laptop
The normal connection for the installed MAC laptop uses a HDMI connection.With the projector on, press the "PC" button on the MediaLink. Audio is also sent via the HDMI connection to the room sound system. Do NOT plug the "mini" sound plug into the headphone jack of the Mac. If sound does not work or comes out of the laptop rather than the sound system, you need to change the sound output setting to "ExtronScalerD" (go to "system preferences" under the Apple menu, then "sound" and select the "output" tab. Note that the volume is control function on the Mac is not active, volume is controlled by the knob on the media controller.

To view another laptop or other VGA device
Connect the VGA cable located on the bottom shelf of the cart to the laptop VGA jack. If using sound, connect the "mini" sound plug provided to the laptop headphone jack. With the projector ON, press the "VGA" button on the MediaLink. You may need to press a function key on your laptop to enable the external monitor function (may be marked "LCD/CRT" or with a monitor icon).

HDMI input
 There is a extra HDMI input located on the connector panel below the rack. This is selected by the "HDMI" button on the media controller.

Aux Video input
The RCA video and S-Video connectors on the connector plate are selected with the "aux video" button the media controller. If the light is amber then the RCA video jack is enabled, if it is green then the S-video jack is enabled. Press the button again to change the mode. The stereo audio jacks can be used in either mode.

To control sound volume
Use the Volume control on the MediaLink.

To Play & View a DVD, Videotape, or CD:

If the DVD/VCR is not already ON, first turn it on with its power button. With the projector on, press the DVD or VCR button on the Media Link. Insert your CD, DVD, or video tape into the appropriate drawer or slot. Use the LiteOn remote) to control playback functions. Cable TV is no longer available in this room, if "snow" or noise is present when the player is stopped, press the "source" button on the front of the player to eliminate it.

Please, turn off all of the equipment before you leave the room.
