Welcome to Your Smart Classroom!
The Smart protocol for classroom technology is designed to make using computer, video, CD, and DVD playing as easy as possible. The MediaLink controller on front of the Desk can be used to turn the projector on and off, select input sources and set volume You can also temporarily blank the image with the "pic mute" button and the sound with the "audio mute" button. Please note that in the event buttons are pressed with the projector off, the controller may "get out of sync" with the actual conditions. In most cases it is only necessary to press the appropriate button again on the MediaLink (even if it is already illuminated) to restore function.
Please be sure to press the "off" button on the mediaLink when done to conserve energy and lamp life. Do not leave it in picture mute when leaving.
To turn the projector On or OFF
Use the projector ON and OFF buttons on the MediaLink. The projector takes 30 seconds to warm up (The button will flash while the projector is warming up or cooling down. Please do not press other buttons during this time).
To view the built-in Laptop
With the projector on, press the PC button on the MediaLink. The computer is a Mac laptop located in the top drawer. Note: the computer sound is via the HDMI connection, if you have no sound check that the sound output device is set to "Extron scaler D" in the system preferences. The volume control on Mac OS has no effect, you need to adjust volume on the media controller.
To view a another laptop
If your computer has a HDMI port: plug a HDMI cable between you laptop and the HDMI jack to the right of the media controller and press the "HDMI" button. In most cases it should not be necessary to connect a "mini" sound cable, the sound should work via the HDMI connection.
Otherwise: connect a VGA cable from you laptop to the jack located on the end of the desk. If using sound, connect a "mini" sound plug provided to the laptop headphone jack. With the projector ON, press the "Laptop VGA" button on the MediaLink.You may need to press a function key on your laptop to enable the external monitor function (may be marked "LCD/CRT" or with a monitor icon).
To Play & View a DVD or CD:
With the projector and DVD player on, press the DVD button on the Media Link. Insert your CD, or DVD into the player. Use the Pioneer remote to control playback functions.
To project other video source:
You can connect a device such as VCR or game system to the video/audio jacks to the right of the media controller. Use the "Aux Video" button to select
This room has the capability to project wirelessly with the installation of software on your device. Laptops can fully mirror the screen while Android and IOS devices can send images but do not do not mirror the device screen. Please contact the helpdesk to get set up to use this feature.
To control sound volume
Use the Volume control on the MediaLink.
Please, turn off all of the equipment before you leave the room.
