Welcome to Your Smart Classroom!
The Smart protocol for classroom technology is designed to make using computer, video, CD, and DVD playing as easy as possible. Please, do not hesitate to address questions about the Smart classrooms to Library & Information Services. Basic instructions
Use the Crestron touch screen to control AV functions. If the screen is blank, touch it to activate. Turn the projector on with the button at top left. Select your projection source with the buttons at the left.If you need to blank the screen for a short time, use the "pic mute" button. When finished, please turn the projector off with the button at upper left. You will be asked to confirm the shutdown. If just playing sound from the computer or laptop connector it is not necessary to turn on he projector.

Sound:
Volume is controlled with the button on the right of the touch screen. Use the volume up & down buttons to adjust. You can mute the sound with the "mute" button. If you wish to adjust tone controls, press the "sound settings" button, then press the "in" button to enable adjustment (the tone controls will revert back to "out" automatically when the projector is turned off).

To view the built-in Mac
With the projector on, press the iMac  button on the touch screen. Note that the sound output setting of the system preferences should be set to HDMI. If the sound comes only from the iMac built-in speakers, you will need to change this. There is no active volume control on the  computer in this mode, use the touch screen controls.

To view a laptop
 There are two connections for a laptop, VGA (the traditional connection) and HDMI. Plug in the type appropriate for you computer and press the corresponding source button on the left of the touch screen. If using VGA, you will also need to connect the "mini" plug to your headphone jack if you need sound. This may or may not be necessary if using the  HDMI connection depending on how your computer is configured. You can also use just the "mini" plug to get sound for a device such as an iPod.

To Play & View a DVD, Videotape, or CD:
Press the "DVD/VCR" button on the touch screen and a window will pop up with controls for the unit (you can also use the JVC remote to control the player if you want.. If the unit is off, you may need to press the power button (it takes a moment to come on). Insert your CD, DVD, or video tape into the appropriate drawer or slot. If a cable TV channel is showing, press the "aux" button on the touch screen to eliminate it. This unit will play DVDs from all regions of the world, however it will only play NTSC (US format) video tapes.

To View Campus Cable TV:
Follow the instructions above and press the AUX button repeatedly until you get to the cable mode. You can change channels by using the up and down buttons or by using the keypad on the JVC remote to enter the channel number.

Special features: This room is equipped with lecture capture, Skype conferencing, and telephone conferencing capabilities. Please request training if you plan on using these features.

Please, turn off all of the equipment before you leave the room.
